Exam Time: Daisho Con Dance Edition

Q: How do you make the best anime con dance even better?  A: Have two of them!

It's a winning formula that we've already discovered: when you have two awesome DJs, great dance music, and rave-ready congoers, it's always best to utilize the full of our dance potential.  This year, we are once again hosting two dances, both run by professional DJs (and really cool dudes) Liquid86 and Ewok.  One dance, DaishoTronic, brings you an electronic throwdown that lasts Friday night into Saturday morning, while the post-cosplay-contest Daisho Clusterfunk captures you ears (and your hearts?) with the greatest variety between here and Japan.

If you're a new attendee to Daisho Con, here's what you can expect: great dance music (including hot techno beats and anime/geek remixes), tons of glowsticks, and so much jumping that you'll think Daisho Con 2010 is hosted on a fault line.

Make your pre-conference music requests while you can! Our DJs are music and lighting masters, so expect the all of the Daisho Dance greatness from previous years, and a few new surprises, too!

Art Alley Registration... Closed!

We're closing Artist Alley registration!

We've had tons of emails asking us if we've confirmed everyone yet for the artist alley.  Not yet!  To be honest, we're still receiving paper registrations, so just note that we'll try to respond as soon as we check the mailbox.

On that note, thanks to everyone who has shown interest in setting up an artist booth!  We're coming very close to filling up all available spots, and we're working our floor-layout magic to ensure that we can pack all of your artsy deliciousness into one hotel.  It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

If you have any questions, feel free to spot a message over to Sydney, our art alley expert.  We'll be reporting back soon with a look at who will be in the artist alley, so now is your chance to run to the lobby and get your popcorn.

Won’t you be our neighbor?

It’s a well-established fact among us Daisho staffers that we love each and every one of you. It’s true! There’s not a day that goes by where we don’t ponder how much we love our community of awesome friends.

As we're only a once-a-year con, sometimes it feels like we're in a long distance relationship.  Like a long distance relationship, sometimes it’s hard to keep in touch.  So, why not use the power of the internet to keep connected to your favorite congoers and otaku?

Why not be BFFs on the BFF (Best forum forever)?  Our forums are a great place to meet other congoers and express your thoughts.  We have sections for you to post news and opinions on anime, gaming, movies and much more.

Of course, our forums are also a great place to discuss what is happening at the conference.  Discuss events and guests, and questions and learn details, or even start a room party and get people excited for events that you host!

Facebook

Become a fan on facebook!  All of our news updates and tweets are also posted on our Facebook page, and when you become a fan our updates can show up in your news feed!  Other people might mention Daisho Con in their own updates, and it can be a great place to friend other people who are going to the con, as well as hear when people ask about sharing rooms and rides!

Twitter

During the conference in November, following our twitter is a great way to keep up with events and news (not just from us, but from our loyal fans who send tweets about Daisho Con as well).  During the rest of the year, we use our twitter to answer questions, post about popular forum topics, and keep you informed on what our guests are working on.

Ready Your Armies!

...your Warhammer Armies!

Daisho Con and Stevens Point's own Galaxy Hobby will be hosting a Warhammer Fantasy tournament at Daisho Con 2010!

The tournament will be run using the 8th edition rules and FAQs, and you can register for the tournament by contacting Josh Wecker. Registration for the event is free, but don't forget to register to get into Daisho Con first!

(Don't worry, your army gets in for free.)

Announcing Daisho Con's 2010 Guest Lineup!

If you're interested in anime, gaming, comics, fantasy and general otaku culture, you'll want to meet the guests that will be at Daisho Con 2010!

Our guests are a mix of voice actors, authors and internet celebrities.  You'll be positively amazed at the experiences that our guests will bring to our conference!  Even if you haven't seen their animes, heard their voices in video games, or kept up with their blogs, there's no doubt that our guests have impacted our otaku culture forever.

They worked on the shows that brought anime to America.  They started memes that have been injected into our interwebs.  They impacted fantasy writing and comics culture.  They brought traditional Japanese culture to our front door.

Now, they're coming to Daisho Con 2010!

Guests for 2010 will include:

• Spike Spencer - Spike Spencer has been a voice actor since the early nineties. He has voiced hundreds of episodes of Anime including such notable titles as Evangelion, Battle Angel, Suikoden, Orphen, Spriggan, and Nadesico.
• Richard Epcar - Richard is well known to anime and gaming fans, starting with the original ‘Robotech’ series in which he played Ben Dixon.  He is the voice of Batou in all things ‘Ghost in the Shell’ and has directed a countless number of shows and video games.
• Doug Walker - Doug Walker, from ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com, is best known for his character The Nostalgia Critic, who reviews bad movies and TV shows from childhood.  He also plays the roles of Chester A. Bum, the hyper active bum who loves every movie ever made, and Dominic, a bar tender who has talked with some of the video game world's biggest stars.
• Lewis Lovhaug - Lewis “Linkara” Lovhaug is a comic book critic who runs the blog/video series: Atop The Fourth Wall. He is also a contributor to ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com.
• Pat Rothfuss - Pat Rothfuss is the author of the highly acclaimed fantasy novel The Name of the Wind, which is the first book in the Kingkiller Chronicle.
• Scott Lynch - Scott Lynch is the author of the Gentleman Bastard sequence of fantasy crime novels, which began with The Lies of Locke Lamora and continues with Red Seas Under Red Skies.  His work has been published in more than fifteen languages and twenty countries.
• Arashi Taiko Dan - Arashi Taiko Dan is a student organization from St. Cloud State University that practices the traditional art of Japanese Drumming.
• Scootywok Sound and Light - Scootywok Sound and Light is a team of two dance-event professionals with almost twenty years of combined experience hosting raves, parties, and other events.
